Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez, a Mexican-American singer and actress is very well-known. Sara Ramirez was brought up by an American mother, and was subjected to a variety of racist taunts, which made her feel unwelcome. In her 9th grade that she gained confidence after receiving a rousing ovation in an audition. The experience not only helped to boost her confidence, but also changed the direction she was heading in her life. The 22-year-old graduated with a degree from the Julliard School in New York. Her professional career began when she was 23 years old, appearing in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and The You've Got Mail film. Her biggest breakthrough was when she appeared in the character in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway show Spamalot receiving not just the Tony Award for her performance as well as a lot of critical praise. In the year following, she was cast in the ABC series Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider acceptance for the role. In addition to being an acclaimed singer she has released two solo albums and an extended piece. Also, she's been a vocal advocate for LGBT concerns.
