Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou, the oldest of her four siblings, was born on 8 August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de Domme. Audrey Tautou's parents who were a dentist and a school teacher helped and encouraged her passion for acting as well as theatre. Her initial dream to become a master monkey was surpassed by her desire to learn about drama and theater. There was an immediate rise in her career to become a well-known young actor. It was only in 1999 when she started acting professionally. Following her studies Tautou was a participant in the French television show for talent scouting called Jeunes Premiers. While she attended in the Institut Catholique de Paris and attended church in her youth Tautou is now averse to her religious upbringing and has stated she's not Catholic. Modeling and acting are interspersed. Her image was the mainstay for L'Oreal Mont Blanc Chanel, and is often referred to as the Chanel Muse. She also has a serious photographic passion and has recently presented an exhibit of her work at the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. Her work is focused on celebrities and fame. It also features an assortment of self-portraits as well as a special focus on journalists who have closely scrutinized Tautou following her rapid success following Amelie. Audrey Tautou's first big role, as Amelie Poulain's lead actor in Le Fabuleux d'Amelie poulain, earned her fame to the world. Amelie received international acclai the box office and was acclaimed at awards ceremonies all over the world. It is the top-grossing French film to be released in the United States. In the wake of this achievement, Tautou was featured in many film productions ranging including British dramatics like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche of fiancailles. She then moved to Hollywood through Ron Howard's direction of The Da Vinci Code, a Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code together with Tom Hanks.
